These are my favorite (non-chocolate) cookies. They are soft, chewy, and delicious. My family has been making them for the holidays for years. I have no idea where the recipe came from, but I'm glad I have it!
Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 0.75 cups firmly packed brown sugar
- 0.5 cups butter , softened
- 0.25 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 0.5 teaspoons salt
- 0.25 teaspoons baking soda
- 2.5 cups cranberries , halved
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 0.25 cups confectioners' sugar for dusting , or as needed
Instructions
-
1
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
-
2
Cream white sugar, brown sugar, and butter together in a large mixing bowl. Beat milk, orange juice, and egg into the creamed mixture.
-
3
Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda together in a separate bowl; blend into the wet ingredients in the mixing bowl to form a cookie dough. Stir cranberries and walnuts into the dough.
-
4
Drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet by the teaspoonful.

Asparagus and Mushroom Frittata
This asparagus and mushroom frittata recipe is one of my favorites. The most important thing (I think) is to cook it slowly so the eggs stay tender.
White Wine Pound Cake
I got this recipe from my water aerobics instructor. I only make it at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The first year I made it, I was too full for dessert after dinner. I only got to taste the leftover crumbs because my family ate the whole thing Christmas Day. The second year I baked it the night before Christmas and left it on the counter. When I got up Christmas morning, a fourth of it had already been eaten. Serve all by itself or with ice cream and/or fruit.
Individual No-Bake Key Lime Pies
Tart, creamy, light, and sweet. The perfect dessert after a heavy meal or barbecue! This is the smaller version of the pie I make every summer. It couldn't be easier and tastes just like real key lime pie--but no eggs or baking required!
