This cherry ice cream has chunks of delicious sweet black cherries dotted throughout. You can use red cherries if you prefer a tarter flavor — I just love the crimson color and sweetness in ripe dark cherries. Whatever you decide, this homemade ice cream is a great way to celebrate summer cherries!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.75 cups white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups fresh black sweet cherries , pits removed and cut in half

Instructions

  1. 1

    Gather all ingredients.

  2. 2

Combine the cream, milk, and sugar in a bowl. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  3. 3

Stir in the vanilla and almond extract. Add chopped cherries.

  4. 4

Pour mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions, about 20 minutes. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until firm and desired consistency before serving, about 2 to 4 hours.

  5. 5

    Serve and enjoy!
