The simplest apple crisp recipe proves that less is more when it comes to apples. I grew up with this recipe, and it never fails to impress. If you have small casserole dishes, you can make individual serving sizes for the kids. I prefer the slightly tart Haralson apple from Minnesota for this recipe. Top with half-and-half, whipped cream, or ice cream.
Ingredients
- 5 cups peeled , cored, and sliced tart apples
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 0.5 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1.5 cups brown sugar
- 0.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cups butter , softened
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
-
2
Place apples into an ungreased 7x11-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon; stir to combine thoroughly.
-
3
Mix brown sugar, flour, and butter together in a medium bowl until well combined; sprinkle over apples.
-
4
Bake in the preheated oven until apples are bubbly and the topping is lightly browned, 45 to 60 minutes. Serve hot.

Grilled Greek Chicken
The secret to this simple grilled chicken is a very powerful marinade and "roasting" it slowly over semi-indirect heat on the grill.

Applesauce Cornbread
This is an easy, quick recipe for applesauce cornbread that's dense, and adjustably sweet. It will smell great as it bakes and comes out with a great golden crust. It can accompany anything. I love it served with salad, soup, or chili. Add herbs for extra flavor.
