This is a favorite recipe originally made by my mother with chicken on-the-bone and homemade broth cooked over a stove. I have found I don't have the time to start from scratch and that this version tastes just as good with less fuss! You can substitute freshly cooked chicken, if desired. You can line the slow cooker with a slow cooker liner for easy clean-up.
Ingredients
- 4 cans chicken broth , 14.5 ounce
- 3 cans chunk chicken , 12.5 fl oz
- 4 bakings potatoes , peeled and cubed
- 4 carrots , sliced
- 2 cups chopped broccoli
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons quick-mixing flour , such as Wondra®
- salt and cracked black pepper to taste
- 2.25 cups all-purpose baking mix , such as Bisquick®
- 0.67 cups milk
Instructions
-
1
Stir chicken broth, chicken, potatoes, carrots, and broccoli together in a slow cooker.
-
2
Whisk water and quick-mixing flour together in a bowl until a paste-like consistency is reached; stir into slow cooker mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
-

Mom's Best Macaroni Salad
This sweet macaroni salad is, by far, the best I've ever put into my mouth. It has a perfect blend of sweet and tart and is so pretty, thanks to numerous multi-colored veggies. But be ready for this to disappear before you put it on the table. I have 6 children, and it is all I can do to keep them from nibbling on it while I make it.
Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket
This slow cooker recipe comes straight from the heart of a talented Texas cook, Papa Louis, who makes the best brisket in the world! Enjoy this classic as is with fresh rolls, or adapt it by adding Mexican-style ingredients to serve with tortillas.
