This old-fashioned hot buttered rum is the real thing, a genuine old-fashioned recipe, except you use a slow cooker to simmer it. You will swear you are drinking a cinnamon roll, and then it hits you! It's very tasty and a family favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 quartss hot water
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 0.5 cups butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 6 whole cloves
- 3 cinnamons sticks
- 2 cups rum
- 1 cup sweetened whipped cream
- ground nutmeg to taste

Combine hot water, brown sugar, butter, and salt in a 5-quart slow cooker; add cloves and cinnamon sticks.

Cover slow cooker. Cook on Low for 5 hours. Stir in rum.

Ladle buttered rum into mugs. Top with whipped cream; sprinkle with nutmeg.
