A warm beer cheese dip, made with dark lager and sharp Cheddar cheese, pairs well with Bavarian-style pretzels and bratwurst, and also works as a topping for sliders, or as a change to ordinary mac and cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cups milk
- 0.75 cups German dark beer
- 2 teaspoons stone ground mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup freshly grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 0.5 teaspoons Aleppo chile peppers , optional
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Gather all ingredients.

Melt butter In a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth.

Continue whisking; pour in milk. Whisk in beer; cook until mixture thickens, 3 to 5 minutes.

Stir in mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Add cheese; stir until cheese is melted. Stir in Aleppo pepper; season with salt and black pepper.
