These lime margaritas are made with the whole lime, including the rinds. Choose thin-skinned limes with plenty of juice and your lime margaritas will be bright and flavorful — nothing reminiscent of a bottled mix! The lime rind adds beautiful color and a burst of tart, but not overly sweet, taste. You'll never make a margarita the old way again.
Ingredients
- 2 medium thin-skinned limes
- 2 cups ice cold water
- 1 cup tequila
- 0.5 cups white sugar
- 0.25 cups orange-flavored liqueur , such as Cointreau
- 0.25 teaspoons kosher salt
- 3 cups ice , or as needed
- 6 slices lime

Gather all ingredients.

Cut limes into quarters; remove and discard the center part of the rinds. Blend until completely smooth, about 1 minute.

Transfer lime quarters to a blender with cold water, tequila, sugar, orange-flavored liqueur, and salt.

Strain mixture into a large measuring cup or small pitcher

Serve over ice and garnish with lime slices.
