Korean Cucumber Salad
This Korean cucumber salad with garlic is tossed with a spicy, sweet, and tangy dressing made with rice vinegar, sesame oil, rice wine, toasted sesame seeds, and Korean red pepper.
Korean Hot Wings
Finger-licking good, Korean-style hot wings made easy and simple. The sauce can be made up to two weeks ahead of time; flavor will intensify.
Fried Kimchi
Kimchi is a popular Korean side dish featuring fermented cabbage. Other vegetables can be used and applied with the same fermentation process to produce a similar taste and different textures. In this recipe, I fry some kimchi to completely alter the taste and texture for a smoky doppelganger! It is so great with Korean barbeque and with plain old rice. It is certainly one of my favorites and so easy to make. Enjoy hot or cold! Sprinkle sesame seeds on top as a garnish.
Godeungeo Jorim (Korean Braised Mackerel with Radish)
Godeungeo (mackerel) has a very special place in my heart, having eaten it every which way imaginable - pan-fried, grilled, braised, canned, and smoked during my days in Seoul. Serve with rice and other side dishes.
Vegetarian Bibimbap
I created this bibimbap recipe after looking at a few different ones online and choosing my favorite aspects of each. Serve sweet red chili sauce on the side for mixing into bibimbap.
Spicy Korean Chicken
Marinated in a flavorful mixture of sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, and gochujang (Korean chile paste), these chicken thighs are slightly spicy and slightly sweet.
Korean Spicy Chicken and Potato (Tak Toritang)
A very easy meal to make! Chicken drumettes, potato, carrots, and onion simmer in a spicy sauce that goes best with white rice. You can find Korean hot pepper paste in a Korean/Asian market. I haven't tried looking in a grocery store. Its Korean name is 'gochujang'. Serve with hot cooked rice.
Korean Tofu and Vegetable Soup
This is the Korean equivalent of chicken noodle soup - it is a comforting, cure-all soup. It is also spicy and fresh, and easy to make. You will have to visit your local Asian market for some of the ingredients.
Tteokbokki (Korean Spicy Rice Cakes)
This firery dish features chewy rice cakes (garaetteok) seasoned with spicy chile paste. A staple of Korean street food, you'll often find bubbling pots of tteokbokki ready to serve. Garnish with sesame seeds for an extra crunch.
Korean Fried Chicken Sauce
This is my take on the classic Korean fried chicken sauce. I like to add lots of green onion and garlic, and not cook this quite as long. The result is a sauce with those ingredients a little more in the flavor profile's forefront. Try to find Korean chili flakes and/or paste if you can. I've used them before and the flavor is great (and obviously more authentic), but if you can't, any hot chili flakes or paste will work.
Korean-Style Salad Dressing
Yummy Korean-style salad dressing! Delicious over spinach salad.
Mom's Kimchi Egg
My mom makes this kimchi and eggs dish all the time, and it tastes better and better each time! And the best part โ just two basic ingredients is all it takes. Garnish with rice.
