Copycat Triple Layer Nachos
Last week at work there was some chatter about how it had been a year since Taco Bellยฎ took the Triple Layer Nachos off their menu and how they were missed. I set out on a mission and this is what I came up with. Note: the restaurant chain sells their own line of refried beans, queso, and sauce so that makes it all the more easy to recreate this at home. This will dirty 4 pans but it is so worth it!
Easy Mexican Tortilla Soup
This easy Mexican tortilla soup features fried tortilla strips in a tomato-based broth seasoned with pasilla chiles. Delicious served as tradition dictates: with panela cheese and avocado.
Puffy Taco Shells
I just don't get to San Antonio, home of the puffy taco, as much as I'd like to. So I tried to recreate it at home and it worked out great! Be sure you have the meat and fixings ready ahead of time so all you have to do is fry and fill! These work best when served as warm as possible.
Grilled Gorgonzola Flat Irons
My friends thought these steaks were heaven sent. The gorgonzola cheese, when melted on top, gives such an interesting contrast to the cinnamon and brown sugar rub. Very nice, however, not too calorie friendly!
Flat Iron Steak Grilled to a 'Tea'
Mustard and tea leaves add flavor and keeps steak moist. My dad made this when we were young and everyone (including my mother) was saying 'Ewwww, yuck!' Well, after we tasted it we were literally begging for more! The tea and mustard make a delicious, flavorful crust which keeps the inside tender and juicy.
Asian Flair Flat Iron Steak
One of our local food distributors has been promoting the sell of these becoming-ever-more-popular cuts of meat. After rummaging online recipes, and experimenting with my own, I came up with the following that my husband and I find quite tasty! You can also try cooking it in your indoor grill (we have a Foreman). Serve this over salad greens, or wrap in warm flour tortillas, adding a bit of your favorite Asian dressing.
Drunken Flat Iron Steak
A friend tried something like this in Texas and this was our version of it.
Flat Iron, Grilled
With flat iron steak you have all the tenderness of filet, but you must provide the flavor with marinades or rubs.
Spicy Flat Iron Steak Rub
This is a super flavorful rub with a Southwest taste for flat iron steak. You can use this recipe for grilling, broiling or stove top (fry pan or stove top grill) cooking. The steak is also great served with a few slices of avocado on top. Let the rub sit for up to 2 days, if possible, for the best flavor.
Flat Iron Steaks Marinated in Red Wine
Red wine and mustard do wonderful things for this tender cut of steak.
Flat Iron Steak with Three Pepper Rub
A simple blend of spices combines to make a wonderful rub for steak. Can be used on any steak but it's best on flat iron or flank steak.
Asian Flat Iron Steak
In this recipe, tender flat iron steak meets trendy Asian bistro-style flavor! With a side of Asian vegetables and rice, it's an easy, delicious dinner!
