Hamantashen
These hamantashen are the easiest I've ever made. They are a bit sweet, roll out easily, and are consumed quickly. My kids don't want to give them to their friends! Traditional fillings are prune and poppyseed, but you can use any canned pie filling, whole fruit jelly, chocolate chips, or any type of filling your family likes. Be creative with these — we put mini chocolate chips in the dough.
Oma's Fabulous Matzo Ball Soup
This matzo ball soup recipe is the one my grandmother always made. The matzo balls are perfect! It is our family's favorite Passover dish and serves a lot of people. Make sure to not add too much matzo meal in order to make the matzo balls float to the top of the boiling chicken broth.
Vegan Spaghetti and (Beyond) Meatballs
This vegan spaghetti features plant-based "meatballs" made with Beyond Meat Beyond Beef. They're slow-simmered in tomato sauce for a hearty and satisfying vegan meal.
Italian Panzanella Bread Salad
Italy's famous bread salad is usually associated with Tuscany, but my husband's father emigrated from Sicily, so I made up this version of bread salad using the flavors of Sicilian cuisine.
Mid-Summer Italian Bread Salad
Everything in this mid-summer Italian bread salad recipe is fresh, except the bread. Use a loaf of artisan or rosemary bread that is a touch stale. If your bread is too fresh, toast it until about half as dried and crunchy as a crouton.
Italian-Style Tuna Salad
Italian bread, tomato cubes, capers, tuna, olive oil, olives, onion, and cucumber make this an extravagant salad!
Baked Caprese Crostini
This baked caprese crostini recipe is not a salad, but an easy caprese on bread appetizer. Toasted slices of French bread are topped with Roma tomatoes, melted mozzarella, fresh basil, and extra-virgin olive oil in this baked caprese crostini recipe.
Easter Bread Ring
This recipe is from Italy. The Italians love it, especially at Easter time.
Piadina Romagnola (Italian Flat Bread)
A flat bread from the Italian region Romagna. Great with arugula and soft cheese (Squacquerone is the one typically used) or cold cuts and a glass of Sangiovese Superiore di Romagna from Forli'. The dough can sit at 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) up to 2 days.
Italian Party Bread
If an Italian deli exploded inside a loaf of bread, it would be this crispy meat and cheese-stuffed braid that I call party bread. With only five ingredients, including premade pizza dough, it's incredibly easy to make. Feel free to use homemade dough or turn this Italian party into a Spanish one using Serrano ham and Manchego cheese—or even a French one with Gruyère and Dijon!
Italian Cheese Bread
A strong-tasting Italian cheese bread.
Noni's Taralli
Classic Italian biscuit recipe passed down from my great grandmother (nona) to my grandmother (noni) to my dad and now to me. These are savory taralli, you can also add cracked black pepper to taste if desired.
