I got this baked French toast recipe from my sister in law. She and my brother had it at their gift opening after the wedding. I make it any time we have people staying with us, and it is always a hit. You may sprinkle the top with pecans if you wish.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread , 1 pound
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1.5 cups half-and-half cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 0.25 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 0.75 cups butter
- 1.33 cups brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup

Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish; arrange slices of bread on the bottom.

Beat eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Pour over bread slices, cover, and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Meanwhile, combine butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup together in a small saucepan; heat until bubbling.

Pour over bread and egg mixture.

Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.

Serve with berries and syrup.
