This strata recipe is really easy to make. You can assemble it beforehand and bake it the following day. Sometimes I add cooked chopped broccoli for a change of pace.
Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 pound pork sausage
- 6 slices bread , 1 ounce
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 6 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
Instructions
-
1
Gather all ingredients.
-
2
Lightly grease a 7x11-inch baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
-
3
Heat a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain.
-
4
Layer bread cubes, cooked sausage, and cheese in the prepared baking dish. Beat together milk, eggs, salt, and mustard in a medium bowl. Pour over bread mixture. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours to overnight.
-
5
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). While the oven is heating, let casserole sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before baking.

Bake casserole in the preheated oven until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, 50 to 60 minutes. Let casserole stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Shrimp
These air fryer shrimp are easy to make and can be served with a salad or on top of rice or pasta. They are also great as a cold appetizer.
Thai Pineapple Chicken Curry
This pineapple curry is a quick and easy Thai curry dish that's sweet and spicy. I became enamored with this dish at a local restaurant and then worked to duplicate it at home. I think I've got the taste and presentation pegged. I'm guesstimating the amounts since I don't measure much when I cook. Feel free to adjust to taste.
Cabbage Fritters
Crispy cabbage fritters, savory pancakes of freshly grated cabbage and carrot, fried until golden and crisp, bring out the luxuriant sweetness of caramelized cabbage. The tangy feta dill dip provides a cool contrast.
