I found this simple, delicious recipe about a year ago, and it quickly became my favorite! It's incredibly addictive when served warm with butter and pairs well with corned beef and cabbage.
Ingredients
- 3.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cups white sugar
- 2 tablespoons caraway seeds
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 large eggs
- 1 container sour cream , 16 ounce
- 0.75 cups raisins
Instructions
-
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
-
2
Combine flour, sugar, caraway seeds, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a large bowl. In another large bowl, whisk the eggs with the sour cream together.
-
3
Gently stir sour cream mixture into flour mixture until dough comes together. Fold in raisins. Spoon dough into the prepared springform pan.
-
4
Bake until golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean. Cool bread in the pan for 10 minutes before removing. Cut into wedges and serve warm.

Puff Pastry Shells
These are fairly simple to make, and once baked the real fun begins, as they can hold so many amazing fillings, both sweet and savory. The key is making sure your puff pastry dough is very firm, and very cold, preferably still partially frozen, before you start cutting it. You want nice clean cuts, because if you mash the layers of pastry together, your shells will not rise as high, and they can also bake into some strange shapes.
