This marshmallow apple crisp may sound a bit strange, but it is really a rich and delicious recipe. The topping forms a soft, golden brown crust that is somewhat cookie-like. It complements the tartness of the apples very well.

Ingredients

  • 8 large Granny Smith apples , cored and sliced
  • 0.5 cups white sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon , divided
  • 1 cup butter , melted
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

  2. 2

Mix apple slices, white sugar, 2 1/2 tablespoons flour, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon together in a large bowl until thoroughly combined; spread out into a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  3. 3

Mix melted butter, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a medium bowl until well combined; stir in marshmallows, brown sugar, oats, and 1 cup flour until thoroughly combined. Spread evenly over apples, then gently flatten topping to a smooth layer.

  4. 4

Bake in the preheated oven until apples are tender and topping is golden brown, 30 to 35 minutes.
