This Mexican chocolate chili was adapted from an old recipe my mother used for family gatherings. Because you make it in a slow cooker, it is easy to transport to a party. It's flavorful, and I promise everyone will ask for this recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground round beef
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 cans diced tomatoes with garlic , 14.5 ounce
- 1 can kidney beans , 15 ounce
- 1 can black beans , 15 ounce
- 1 can whole kernel corn , 14.5 ounce
- 1 cup hot water
- 0.33 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoons dried oregano

Combine ground round beef and onion in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until beef is browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes.

Transfer beef and onion to a slow cooker. Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, corn, hot water, chocolate chips, chili powder, cumin, salt, and oregano.

Cook on High until chili begins to bubble, about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to Low and cook until thick, about 2 hours.
