This mock chopped liver is made with cooked lentils. This flavorsome spread tastes just like real liver pâté! Make it vegetarian by using vegetable bouillon. Serve mounded on a platter with crackers.
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup lentils
- 2 cubess vegetable or chicken bouillon
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large onion , chopped
- 1 cup walnuts
- salt and pepper to taste

Place water, lentils, and bouillon cubes in a pot; cover and simmer over medium heat until tender, about 30 minutes. Drain well.

Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat; add onion and sauté until soft and translucent.

Blend cooked lentils, onions, and walnuts in a food processor until it reaches the desired consistency for pâté. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Chill before serving.
