Chef John's Crab Cakes
Try this crab cake recipe to see what crab cakes are supposed to be like. They're basically fried lumps of crabmeat that are held together with minimal filler. Delicious!
Cajun Crab Cakes (No Breadcrumbs)
Two of the most crucial ingredients used in New Orleans cooking are Cajun spice and local seafood! Crab has always been my favorite type of shellfish, but I have never really cared much for crab cakes. The overpowering presence of seasoned breadcrumbs used in most recipes interferes with the sweet and delicate flavors of the fresh lump crabmeat. After years of experimenting with many of New Orleans' most famous crab cake recipes, I have created a flavorful, mouth-watering, delicious piece of work! The key is to use a small amount of crumbled crackers instead of breadcrumbs. I hope you enjoy!
True Maryland Crab Cakes
This true Maryland crab cake recipe is the true crab cake with no fillers and no heavy spices, all crabmeat. This recipe has been in my family for generations.
Aunt Ruth's Crab Cakes
This down-home crab cake recipe made with claw meat is heavy on the crab and light on the filler.
Fried Crab Cakes
This is a recipe I came up with after trying so many crab cake recipes. I think it is fantastic, and the sauce complements the fried crab cakes. Enjoy! I'm sure you will make this recipe again and again.
Pineapple Sriracha Salsa
This pineapple Sriracha salsa is so refreshing and delicious, bursting with all kinds of flavor, and it will even be better after it is chilled. The most difficult part of this recipe will be deciding what to serve it on - it's equally good on tacos and pulled pork, and—believe it or not—it's superb on ice cream.
Spaghetti and Meatballs Muffin Bites
There's a reason spaghetti and meatballs appear on so many dinner tables — it's a comforting meal, easy to put together, and loaded with flavor. This spaghetti muffin recipe turns the traditional meal into party-ready, individual servings of spaghetti and meatball muffin bites.
Deconstructed Egg Rolls Muffin Tin Style
My version of muffin pan cooking.
Pear and Blue Cheese Pastry Triangles
To die for delicious. Fairly quick appetizer and guests can't get enough. The perfect balance of sweet and savory. Easy to adjust for large or small groups. Don't skip the onions!
Jalapeno Cheddar Bites
Jalapeños, green olives & sweet red onions, added to cream cheese & topped with shredded Cheddar-Jack blend puts this over the top on flavor.
Cheesy Breads
Of all the different appetizers I've made over the years, this one is always the first to go and it is SUPER easy to make. You can use either sweet or sour dough bread, both are tasty! I will usually assemble the Cheesy Breads the morning of the party on cookie sheets and cover with plastic wrap and keep in the fridge. When everyone has arrived at the party I just pop them in the oven and serve them piping hot! If you don't want the bread to be crunchy, broil them instead of baking them. I've tried them both ways and crunchy is better!
Smoked Salmon Tartlets
Smoked salmon, chives, and cream cheese stand out in these mini tartlets that almost taste like a cheesecake! Perfect to serve as an appetizer alongside your favorite drink.
