Holiday Ham Pot Pies
These magnificent holiday ham pot pies feature a user-friendly, buttery, ancient hot water pastry crust, which is both sturdy and tender, and often functioned as an edible napkin for a hand-held pie. You can use leftover ham or ham purchased just for the recipe. Four 7-ounce ramekins are the perfect size for these pot pies.
Meat Pies
Meat pies are one of the first things I learned how to make in Home Economics class in secondary school–shortcrust pastry, filled with a minced meat mixture that had potatoes and carrots too. I remember this being a big deal because at the time, meat pies were some of the quintessential fast food treats offered at quick service restaurants, and my parents did not give us fast food often. The ability to make them at home was a very big deal to me. With the holidays around the corner, homemade meat pies with buttery crusts and lush meat filling are the perfect snack.
Seafood Pot Pie
This pot pie is loaded with tons of beautiful seafood perfect for special occasions for people you love. You can adjust the type and quantity of the seafood in this to suit your tastes, and preferences — just stay within the same overall amount used here; e.g. use all fish, or all shellfish, or any combo you like.
Cabbage Fritters
Crispy cabbage fritters, savory pancakes of freshly grated cabbage and carrot, fried until golden and crisp, bring out the luxuriant sweetness of caramelized cabbage. The tangy feta dill dip provides a cool contrast.
Garlic Noodles
These garlic noodles are deceivingly simple, yet devastatingly delicious. Garlic noodles were invented back in the '70s at a restaurant in San Francisco called Thanh Long. Usually served with roasted Dungeness crab, the recipe is a very closely guarded family secret, but after lots of investigation, and even more experimentation, I think this is very close.
Creamy Pasta Bake with Cherry Tomatoes and Basil
This creamy pasta bake is one of my favorite midweek pasta dishes. My whole family loves it, and there is not much prep. Once the pasta bake is in the oven, you can make a salad or set the table, and then it's time to eat.
Broccoli Fritters
These crispy little broccoli fritters are packed with tender broccoli and cheese. They're quick and easy to make in a food processor, and kids love them! A great way to sneak in extra vegetables!
Shrimp Tacos
I got the idea for this shrimp tacos recipe from a favorite restaurant. The shrimp is sautéed in honey butter, topped with a delicious mango salsa, and wrapped in a tortilla. It tastes worth a million bucks yet is so simple. Everyone will be begging for more.
Chicken Tacos
This chicken tacos recipe is perfect for those nights when you don't have a lot of time for dinner preparations. Feel free to add chili powder or paprika to the chicken if your family likes it.
Baked Cod Fish Tacos
A personal spin on baked cod fish tacos. When beef or chicken gets tiresome, do something fishy! Omitted cilantro due to personal tastes, but feel free to add if desired.
Lime Chicken Soft Tacos
These chicken tacos seasoned with lime, oregano, and garlic are flavorful and delicious. I was given this recipe by my mom when I went away to college, and it has become all of my friends' favorite dinner!
Blackened Shrimp Tacos with Pineapple
These blackened shrimp tacos with pineapple are bright and summery. Shrimp is grilled with a homemade blackened seasoning, and a delicious grilled fresh pineapple salsa tops them off. Add sour cream if you want to cool them down a touch.
