Brown Sugar and Mustard Ham Glaze
This brown sugar mustard glaze for ham has a wonderful sweet and sour flavor. This is the recipe that my mother used every holiday. The best part is that you can adjust it to be sweeter by using more brown sugar or sour by using more mustard.
Herb-Crusted Rack of Lamb
Lamb rack is one of those things that always seems fancy, but the truth is that it's actually so easy, and hard to mess up. This version is super simple and classic. The timing in the recipe yields pink, juicy, medium-rare meat, but you can of course cook it longer/to a higher temperature if preferred. Perfect for your Easter lunch, or as an impressive part of any special occasion meal.
Delicious Egg Salad
This egg salad recipe is the best and easy to make with chopped hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, and mustard. I like to add green onions for some color and crunch. It tastes wonderful in a sandwich and will definitely be devoured at picnics! It's really good on rye.
Pierogi (Polish Dumplings)
This pierogi recipe for Polish dumplings has been a family favorite from generation to generation. We traditionally make these for Christmas, but they can be made for any special event. There's some work involved, but the outcome is rewarding! You can pan-fry the boiled pierogies in butter for a crispy finish.
Pierogi I
A delicious filled dumpling made from fresh pasta. These take time, but are so worth it! Fill with Sauerkraut Filling or Potato and Cheese Filling. To freeze, place uncooked pierogies in melted butter. Cool, and place in freezer bags. The butter will keep them from sticking.
Sauerkraut Filling for Pierogi
A not-so-typical filling for yummy pierogis!
Lazy Man's Pierogi
Every time we have a party I'm requested to make this lazy man's pierogi dish. Wonderful mixture of pasta, bacon, mushrooms, and onions.
German Spaetzle Dumplings
Spaetzle are traditional German dumplings. You can also mince a few pieces of bacon in a pan, heat the cooked spaetzle in the bacon drippings and omit the butter.
Perogies
These perogies can be boiled or fried in butter, which makes them tastier. Serve with sour cream or cottage cheese. I grew up on these delicious perogies. I like to triple the recipe and freeze some for later by freezing perogies in a single layer on a tray, then storing them in freezer bags.
Käsespätzle
This käsespätzle, also spelled kaese spaetzle, is a tasty homemade pasta tossed with onion and Emmentaler cheese. It's a German version of macaroni and cheese.
Spicy Potato Noodles (Bataka Sev)
I've been obsessed with this crispy fried snack ever since my friend brought the recipe back from South Africa in 1988. This is adapted from a recipe she learned in a cooking class taught by a renowned Indian food authority in Cape Town, Ramola Parbhoo.
Indian Samosa Pie
If you've ever had a samosa, you'll love this samosa pie! It's easy to make, even for a beginner! Experiment with your spice level — this is a more mild version. The pie also freezes well to be baked later.
