Authentic Korean Bulgogi
This authentic Korean bulgogi (bul-go-gi) recipe from my mother in Korea features tender beef marinated in a rich blend of pear juice, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame โ always a yummy crowd favorite!
Korean-Style Braised (Slow Cooker) Baby Back Ribs
Korean-style braised (slow cooker) baby back ribs are influenced by my favorite Korean chef in the Los Angeles, CA area, Roy Choi, whose cooking will oversaturate your taste buds. This recipe's flavor profile is 12 out of 10. These remind me of your typical pot roast prep that your mom may have made growing up โ if your mom happened to be a Korean man who went on to create the first fusion taco truck. Enjoy them over a bed of steamed rice and your favorite banchan!
Haemul Pajeon (Korean Seafood Pancake)
It's been a while since we had pajeon (literally translated pa means green onion/scallions and jeon means pancake, thus green onion pancake) since our California days with unlimited makgeolli (fermented rice wine). But for the sake of adding to our recipe list, we decided to make haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) for tonight while the kids spend the night at Komo's house (Auntie's). There are endless variations of this dish which can be made by adding or omitting certain ingredients according to personal preference.
Korean Kebabs
These Korean-inspired kebabs are juicy and really easy to prepare โ in the oven or on a BBQ grill. I've made these for years, and they're still a huge favorite with family and friends. I serve them with mushroom rice and garlic bread. This is a sauceless recipe, but the meat is so succulent you don't need it.
Best Bulgoki - Korean Barbeque Beef
This is the best bulgoki recipe I've come up with--adapted from a few different ones. It is very forgiving and you can adjust sweetness and spiciness as you prefer. Serve over rice.
Sweet Korean Crispy Chicken
This Korean-flavored chicken recipe pairs twice-fried chicken bites with a sticky, sweet, and slightly hot sauce made from garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and gochujang. Perfect for dinner, or serve as an appetizer or snack. Garnish with chopped peanuts.
Spicy Korean Ribs
These spicy Korean ribs are a family-favorite recipe. I picked it from the local paper. They're best left in the fridge overnight so the flavors get stronger. The more sauce, the better! Serve with sesame coleslaw.
Sweet and Spicy Gochujang Chicken
Sweet and sour gochujang chicken is a quick wok dish featuring Korean flavors. Serve over rice.
Korean Sweet Potato Noodles (Japchae)
If you like Asian-inspired noodle dishes, you will love Korean japchae. You would never know that these satisfying noodles are made from sweet potatoes and are gluten free! Serve with kimchi as a garnish.
Dakdoritang (Korean Spicy Chicken Stew)
'Dakdoritang' is a chicken dish that's cooked in a spicy red sauce along with vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and onions. It's also called 'dakbokkeumtang' or 'dakmaeuntang.' It's usually made by cutting up a whole chicken into small pieces, but I use a combination of chicken thighs and wings. The result is succulent pieces of chicken packed with spicy and savory flavors!
Korean Beef Short Rib Stew (Galbi Jjim)
This is the ultimate Korean comfort food. Sugar, corn syrup, and soy sauce can be adjusted to taste. The trick to tender ribs is a looong cooking time. Feel free to let it stew longer. Some versions in Korea also add chestnuts or dates to the stew.
Budae Jjigae (Korean Army Base Stew)
This dish originated after the Korean War when food was scarce. Canned spam, hot dogs, and beans from U.S. military bases were combined with kimchi, vegetables, noodles, and spicy seasonings to create a hearty stew. I first tried it at a Korean restaurant near my home and loved it so much I learned to make it myself. My version is fairly spicy!
