This make-ahead BBQ chicken recipe is the best idea for Memorial Day (or any summer holiday), and it's not too fancy. It uses everything off the shelf, is wonderful, and is perfect for grilling. Marinate or add sauce directly to the chicken. Send the kids to do the dishes, and enjoy the evening!
Ingredients
- 0.5 cups Worcestershire sauce
- 2.5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1.5 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 skinless , boneless chicken breasts
Instructions
-
1
Whisk Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, Cajun seasoning, and garlic powder together in a large glass or ceramic bowl until well combined. Add chicken and toss until evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for 8 hours to overnight.
-
2
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
-
3
Remove chicken from marinade and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
-
4
Cook on the preheated grill until chicken no longer pink and the juices run clear, 6 to 8 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into centers should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Mamaw's Southern Buttermilk Chicken
This recipe was given to me from a friend's housekeeper, who was kind to share it with me. It was passed down through her family. Chicken would be fried early in the morning or night before, then placed in the oven to finish while at church, then served for Sunday lunch. It is the best fried chicken around! Love and thanks, Maxine!
