Pesarattu
This is a Andhra specialty. Pesarattu is a dosa made with Pesara Pappu (moong dal). You use the moong dal with skin on and this is what gives this dosa the classic green color. Of course this dosa is high in protein and fiber. Serve it with upma rolled inside and it becomes an 'MLA pesarattu'. This is a heavy lentil batter and does not keep very well. Use up the batter within 2 days.
Whole Wheat Chapati
Similar to a wheat pita, it is bread made of whole wheat flour. I make it for my diabetic husband all the time. Serve these with your favorite fish or vegetable dish.
Akki Rotti
This recipe is for Karnataka-style (Southern Indian) Akki Rotti. This savory flatbread can be enjoyed for breakfast, as a snack, or for lunch. It is very filling and contains lots of veggies to fulfill your veggie requirements for one meal in a day. Serve with the chutney or pickle of your choice.
Quick Whole Wheat Chapati
Chapati is an unleavened whole wheat bread that is eaten in India. We love to use it as a wrap.
Tortillas II
Fresh and tender wheat flour tortillas are great with breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Tortillas I
To Latinos everywhere, these are not only our bread but usually our utensil at mealtime as well! Some like big and thin, some like them small and fat, depending on the region of the country you're from and the way your grandmother made them!
Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas
I learned this recipe from watching my mom in Mexico, however, nobody (not even my mom) knows how much of every ingredient you are supposed to use, so I experimented with different amounts of ingredients and came up with this one, which is pretty good and not so loaded with fat. This is great to do with kids on the weekend, and something you can enjoy anytime!
Puffy Taco Shells
I just don't get to San Antonio, home of the puffy taco, as much as I'd like to. So I tried to recreate it at home and it worked out great! Be sure you have the meat and fixings ready ahead of time so all you have to do is fry and fill! These work best when served as warm as possible.
Chef John's Corn Tortillas
Chef John's corn tortillas recipe features my technique for making excellent corn tortillas every time! It takes some practice to master, but even the lousiest homemade corn tortilla is better than those cardboard store-bought ones. Make sure to let the dough rest so that it puffs up nicely while cooking.
Chef John's Flour Tortillas
Homemade tortillas are so much better that if you do decide to give Chef John's recipe for flour tortillas a try, be warned that you'll have a very hard time ever going back to the packaged option again.
Flat Iron, Grilled
With flat iron steak you have all the tenderness of filet, but you must provide the flavor with marinades or rubs.
Drunken Flat Iron Steak
A friend tried something like this in Texas and this was our version of it.
