Tuscan Cream Cheese Spread
A delicious appetizer that can be served at a fancy cocktail party or at poker night. Serve with crackers or toasted French bread slices.
Chef John's Party Cheese Puffs
These beautiful cheese puffs, gougeres, are as easy as they are delicious. Usually Gruyere cheese is used but I had some very sharp farmhouse Cheddar cheese in the fridge, so I decided to use that. As long as you are using a very sharp, full-flavored cheese I don't think you can go wrong. I love gougeres with Gruyere, but I think the extra-sharp Cheddar was just as good.
Texas Caviar with Avocado
A delicious party dip with beans, tomatoes, onions, and lots of diced avocado. A variation on 'Texas Caviar'; one bite and you won't leave the bowl. Serve with 'scoop' tortilla chips.
Roasted Chestnuts
You can make roasted chestnuts at home by roasting them in the oven until softened, and them cooking them in melted butter with a sprinkling of salt and cinnamon for a delicious festive snack.
Cinnamon Sweet Potato Slices
These wonderful baked sweet potato slices are just slightly sweet. Ingredients amounts are only a suggestion. I always keep a cinnamon-sugar blend on hand.
Party Punch
Guests love this party punch that's easy to make with fruit punch, orange juice, and ginger ale. We love to make this delicious drink for family gatherings — my sisters, brother, and I even had it served at our weddings! Add sliced fruit if desired.
Roasted Yams
Sliced yams are baked in a hot oven until tender and crispy for a yummy side dish to your meal. These roasted yams pair best with turkey, chicken, steak, or mild fish.
Grandma Jeanette's Amazing German Red Cabbage
This German red cabbage recipe with apples is flavored with sugar, vinegar, and cloves for a sweet and sour festive side dish that pairs well with roast pork, turkey, or duck.
Beefy Lasagna Nachos
It tastes like what you'd expect; meaty, cheesy, crunchy. The world is your oyster with this one! The pasta chips are super crunchy and a great base for these nachos. The ground beef has a good base of flavor from the Italian seasoning, garlic, and marinara which give it a quick and easy Italian-American flavor profile. The ricotta and the cheese sauce work well together in that one spreads over everything like a traditional queso, then you get pops of hot creamy ricotta. Optional toppings: half-moon zucchini slices, sauteed mushrooms, sliced pepperoncini, chopped Calabrian chiles, etc.
Reuben Nachos for Two
Nachos and Reuben sandwiches are two of my favorite things so I came up with this to use up the leftover corned beef. This can easily be doubled and would be great to serve at a Super Bowl party.
Cauliflower Nachos
Skip the chips and use slabs of roasted cauliflower instead! I opted for these toppings because they were balanced and played well off each other, but you can change them up as you please.
Loaded Vegan Nachos
These loaded vegan nachos with black beans, homemade guacamole, and cashew cheese will be hard to put down! Top with chopped black olives, if desired.
