Portuguese Sopas
This has been a favorite of my family's for a long time. Don't expect any leftovers. Serve over sliced French bread.
Easy Taco Soup
This taco soup recipe is a quick and easy alternative to Taco Tuesdays. Serve this dish with desired toppings such as shredded cheese, sour cream, lime wedges, and Fritos corn chips. It is a great soup for a last-minute potluck invite.
Chef John's Cincinnati-Style Chili
You'll love this chili recipe if you tend to like foods from the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Greek food, or Indian food, because of the spices and flavor profile. If you don't, you won't. If you finish this dish off with some diced onions and grated Cheddar cheese like I did, you'll be enjoying what they call in Cincinnati a "Four-Way," because of the four components, but feel free to serve as you like.
Caldo de Res (Mexican Beef Soup)
Caldo de res is a Mexican beef soup that's extremely hearty and satisfying. The hind shank flavors the broth beautifully as does the marrow in the bones. Garnish with slivered raw onion, lime juice, jalapeΓ±os, and more cilantro.
Pho (Vietnamese Noodle Soup)
This traditional pho recipe uses beef bones, fish sauce, star anise, and ginger to create a delicious aromatic Vietnamese broth from scratch. The flavorful broth is ladled over rice noodles and thinly sliced beef and topped with fresh garnishes.
Hawaiian-Style Chili
This Hawaiian-style chili recipe is a very good one, and it's made with pineapple for sweetness. Since this is a large recipe, you might want to make a half-batch if it is just for a small family.
Ground Beef Chili with Beans
This chili is a delicious mix of ground beef, beans, chorizo, and vegetables in a hearty tomato base. I entered it in a chili cook-off and it won!
Cincinnati Chili I
An unusual chili, with cinnamon, cloves, and even chocolate!
Skyline Chili
This hearty skyline chili is always a crowd-pleaser!
Spicy Gingered Beef and Snap Pea Salad
Chopped flank steak cooked with garlic and fresh ginger tops fresh salad greens, colorful bell peppers, cucumber, and snap peas dressed with a zesty ginger dressing.
Texas Chili
This Texas chili is rich and hearty with just the right amount of heat. The beef is wonderfully tender and perfectly absorbs the smoky, savory seasoning of the pepper paste and spices.
Authentic Cincinnati Chili
Cincinnati chili is a unique type of chili that's flavored with not just chili powder but lots of other spices, including cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. This recipe was handed down to me by Mom, a Cincinnati native. I like mine 4-way, with spaghetti, raw chopped onions, and grated mild Cheddar. Serve oyster crackers on the side.
