Perfect Pita Chips
I searched for months for a perfect pita chip recipe that tastes the same as, if not better than, store-bought pita chips. After many attempts, I found what everyone thinks is the perfect pita chip recipe! It takes barely any time to prepare, the chips have lots of garlic flavor, and they go great with spinach artichoke dip! For a change, add Italian seasoning, herbs, or Parmesan cheese!
Grandma's Secret Pie Crust
The secret's out! A great basic pie crust from Grandma's secret recipes.
Almond Butter
This is a quick, simple way to make healthy, all-natural basic almond butter. Add sugar, spices, or other ingredients to taste if desired.
Smoked Chicken Thighs
Dry-rubbed chicken thighs are smoked in an electric smoker.
White Wine Chicken Soup
Amazing, fill-your-house-with-an-aroma-to-drool-for, easy chicken soup. The longer it cooks, the better it gets. The best is made by my mother, but the rest of us can make this wonderful facsimile. Easily multiplied, exceedingly flexible - have fun! The soup is quite good after 2 hours, but the longer it cooks, the more mellow the flavor will be. If you can, leave it for as many as 6 hours (this is a good recipe when you're in the house all day). Serve with croutons or soup nuts, if desired.
Smoked Turkey
This is an easy to make recipe. I've tried numerous others using colas, fancy pans, etc., but none come out near as good as this. Keeping it simple is the best way. Be sure to use a high-quality charcoal, so that it will burn for a long time. Turkey will be moist tender and smoky!
Sugar-Free Frosting
Versatile cream cheese frosting flavored with sugar-free instant pudding. It will frost one 9x13 or one 2 layer cake. Use any flavor of pudding mix.
Best Pie Crust
This is the best pie crust recipe for making a homemade flaky, tender crust. I use this often as I am a pie baker. The trick to good pie crust is to be gentle and treat it very lightly. The proportions are nice in this pastry dough, with just the right ratio of flour to shortening to water. Everything incorporates perfectly and the dough is easy to roll out. This recipe doubles well and freezes nicely.
Brazilian White Rice
White rice is the main side dish made in Brazil. This is the way my mom would make it and taught my sister and I. What makes this so different is that we fry it in oil with minced onion and garlic before adding water. You can also use part water, part chicken broth. The secret is to not let it overcook because it should come out loose and not sticky.
Dad's Lima Bean Soup with Ham Bone
This lima bean soup was one of my father's favorite dishes, a staple of Depression-era cooking when fresh meat was scarce, and soup stretched everything. It's simmered until thick and loaded with chunks of ham. Even lima-bean-haters enjoy this hearty soup!
Crab Boil
This easy crab boil is made in one large pot with Dungeness crabs, corn on the cob, andouille sausage, and potatoes in a seasoned broth. A delicious feast for four!
Bean Soup
A tasty bean soup with ham.
