Sometime after that it will become like nothing you've seen or eaten. This makes a big batch and is easily halved.

Some people call these homemade fig Newtons. They are a tradition at Christmas and are wonderful with a hot cup of coffee.

We always make extra, so there are plenty for us, too! This recipe includes the original filling from my great-grandmother's Polish recipe, but for a shortcut, you can substitute any flavor of jam.
