Granny's Banana Bread
My Great-Grandma used to make this for us whenever we would spend the night at her cabin in Paris, Arkansas. I make it now for my kids and it brings back such wonderful memories! It's absolutely magnificent warm with some sweetened butter.
Oat Applesauce Muffins
These hearty muffins will fill you up with fiber and flavor instead of fat.
Seminary Muffins
Delicious and healthy muffins. Great for breakfast or a snack. No oil, butter or yeast! You may use oat bran instead of oatmeal if you wish.
Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread
A very nice whole wheat bread with the taste of honey. Great right out of the oven.
Ada (Adai)
This ada (adai) recipe is a dosa (crรชpe) usually served at breakfast. It is made with a mixture of lentils and rice and is quite filling. One usually eats ada with podi (south Indian spicy chutney powder) and mango pickle (avakkai). Since the batter is made with raw lentils, it gets fermented easily. It will keep in the refrigerator for one to two days maximum.
Ezekiel Bread II
This bread is also known as Bible Bread or Fasting Bread. This version does not use beans; instead it contains cooked lentils and several whole grain flours. You may have to visit a health foods store to find some of these ingredients.
Bara Brith
Bara brith is a traditional Welsh tea bread that's easy to make and studded with dried fruit. I generally soak the raisins in breakfast tea, but feel free to experiment with flavors. Let the bread cool, then slice and butter for a delicious tea time treat!
Whole Wheat Wraps
These are great! Make your favorite Mexican dish, or alternate sandwiches or even cut these in wedges and fry for whole wheat tortilla chips! You may omit the baking powder if you wish.
Whole Wheat Beer Bread
Good with soups, chili. Makes excellent toast. Flavor of bread will change, depending on type of beer used. Loaf comes out looking textured on top.
Essene Bread
Essene bread is made with sprouted wheat berries. This is a very old recipe โ said to have been created in biblical days. It takes days to make, but your efforts and time will be rewarded with a couple of protein-rich, sweet, and moist loaves of bread. Traditionally, Essene bread was probably baked on hot rocks under scorching sunlight, but where I and most of us live, this is not possible. Baking at the oven temperatures which I suggest might destroy the sprout enzymes, but monitoring baking loaves for much longer than 2 hours is too long for me. Guaranteeing the preservation of the enzymes might require baking at a very low temperature for perhaps 4 hours. If you have the stamina, then go for it.
Deep Dark Old Recipe Bran Muffins
Ever wanted to make the really dark bran muffins that have more bran than flour in them? This recipe has been in the family for years and has the date 1910 on the original paper the recipe was written on!! You will NOT be disappointed. Instead of raisins, try using dates, prunes, figs, blueberries, or nuts.
Roti Bread from India
Roti bread is an unleavened griddle bread from India that is similar to pita bread. Ideally, I use a traditional Indian roti griddle called a tava.
