Churros
I love churros! These crispy Mexican fritters with sweet cinnamon sugar are very common at fairs. In my border hometown, people wait hours in line to get warm churros with chocolate dipping sauce. I have tried several recipes to make them at home and this is by far the best.
Mandazi (African Donuts)
Mandazis are amazingly soft, triangle-shaped donuts famous in East Africa, where I am from. They are excellent with a cup of tea or coffee. The dash of cardamom adds an authentic taste, making them different from regular donuts. You can serve them with honey or jam. Mandazis can also be served with curry, which is how we like them.
Banana Fritters
These great little banana fritters are a breakfast favorite.
Munchable Donut Holes
These small donuts with vanilla glaze are irresistible. Add dried blueberries or cocoa powder to mix things up.
Funnel Cakes
This funnel cake recipe will let you enjoy a delicious old-fashioned treat without going to a county fair. You'll need a funnel with a 1/2-inch opening that can hold a cup of batter.
Mom's Apple Fritters
These homemade apple fritters are warm, crispy, and sweet. An old-fashioned treat that's perfect for fall! My mom always made these fritters for us with the apples we'd pick at a fruit farm.
Mad's Peach-Curry Soup
A friend who used to work as a chef shared this yummy and oh, so simple recipe with me. You may substitute half-and-half or evaporated milk for the cream to cut some fat.
Shahi Tukray (Indian Bread Pudding)
A rich and creamy Indian dessert. Garnish with sliced almonds or pistachios. Serve warm, at room temperature, or put in the fridge overnight.
Maharani Cupcakes
Named for a queen in India, these coconut cupcakes with curry lemon curd and a sweet basil cream topping will wow your friends and family. They have sweet but surprising flavors and a stunning presentation. The cupcakes take time to create, but the final product is worth it! The lemon curd and basil cream need time to chill, so they can be made the night before.
Indian Bread Pudding (Double Ka Meeta)
It is a South Indian dessert. Very rich and delicious. Best after any spicy meal. Prepared on special occasions, it has always been favorite dessert in my family. Serve warm or chilled.
Sweet Curry Pumpkin Seeds
I added the curry as an experiment and was very pleased with the addition to these sweet and crunchy seeds.
Indian Chaat-Inspired Potato Chip Salad
We're making chip chaat! This Indian street food often features crispy fried things topped with all kinds of amazing garnishes. It's by far one of the most delicious foods in the world. So, I decided to try that same approach with potato chips, and I love how this came out.
