Authentic Homemade Yogurt
Yogurt is a staple in Armenian cuisine. This authentic recipe for homemade cream yogurt has been passed down in my husband's family for many generations. I've updated the measurements and temperatures to ensure a successful recipe every time. It's fast, easy, and economical! I always try to keep some on hand, but this recipe is so versatile and delicious, it's sometimes hard to keep up with the demand.
Black Bean and Tomato Soup
This black bean tomato soup is a modified version of a recipe I found on another site. Either canned or cooked black beans can be used. This soup freezes well, and I usually double or triple the recipe to have enough to freeze for later.
Black Bean Salad
This salad is a kaleidoscope of color and taste - black beans, yellow corn, green peppers, and red, red tomatoes. Lime juice, garlic and jalapeno give it some punch. It can also be used as a dip with tortilla chips.
Grilled Tandoori Chicken Thighs
This recipe for grilled tandoori chicken thighs has just the right blend of spices. The chicken is moist, delicious, and tastes great hot or cold. If using thighs with skin, you can put over direct medium heat for the last few minutes to crisp.
Kefir Yogurt (Sana)
This recipe is my variation of one that came with my yogurt maker. It's easy to create Greek yogurt from this, too! Simply strain the yogurt in a colander lined with fine cheesecloth or coffee filters. Using kefir at the start creates a much more tart yogurt; it tastes a lot like sana from Europe. You can substitute plain yogurt with live active cultures for the kefir, if desired. Save 1/2 cup of yogurt to use as a starter, if desired. Eat yogurt within one week.
Frozen Bananas
These frozen bananas are cool treats that are great on a hot day! Play around with the ingredients a little โ you can use almond butter, cashew butter, cashews, granola, or whatever sounds good!
Ham and Beans and More
Ham and bean soup can be a little bland and requires a lot of salt to be palatable, but not so with this version. It is bursting with flavor.
Sauteed Carrots and Leeks
A side to use when you have lots of carrots and leeks to use up from the garden. Wife likes it and so do the kids.

Japanese buckwheat flour noodles with chicken at their best! Noodles can be found in an Asian foods market.
