Mohnstollen (Poppy Seed Stollen)
Mohnstollen is a beautiful poppy seed stollen that's often served at Christmas, and this recipe comes straight from Germany. Freshly ground poppy seeds taste best โ in Germany, you can find special grinders for poppy seeds, but you can also use a mortar and pestle. Don't use a regular spice grinder though, as poppy seeds contain a lot of oil that will clog the grinder.
Mandarin Orange Watergate Salad
Mandarin oranges and maraschino cherries give this creamy Watergate salad a burst of color and flavor perfect for the holiday table.
Green Bean Casserole with Frozen Green Beans
I always receive huge compliments when I make this tweaked version of the usual green bean casserole with frozen beans. The secret to this version is the added Swiss cheese. It is one of my favorite dishes for the holidays or anytime. True comfort food!
Amazing Spinach Artichoke Casserole
This spinach artichoke casserole with roasted garlic, fresh mushrooms, and cheese makes a mouth-watering side dish that is creamy and delicious. This recipe has a lot of steps, but it is relatively easy and is well worth it. It's my most requested vegetable casserole recipe and a Thanksgiving family favorite.
Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews
A new recipe a neighbor gave us. What a hit with my family. Just the right mixture of garlic and cashews with our favorite side dish, broccoli. And, so very easy to make!! If in a pinch, you could probably use frozen broccoli too, but I haven't tried.
Pressure Cooker Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are cooked in the pressure cooker and topped with an orange-brown sugar glaze. I love these with roasted or grilled chicken and Southern-style green beans.
Blaukraut (German Red Cabbage)
Red cabbage with apples is a traditional German side dish for pork roast and other roasts, Christmas goose, turkey, and game. It tastes even better when reheated so I usually make it the day before. It is a staple on most people's home for Christmas dinner.
All-Time Favorite Sweet Potato Pudding
This sweet potato pudding is a great dish to go with Thanksgiving dinner.
Cream Cheese Fruit Salad
This creamy fruit salad is a satisfying summer dessert, but it's also a family-favorite treat at Thanksgiving. My mother-in-law brought this dish to every family function.
Pineapple Stuffing
This pineapple stuffing makes a great side with baked ham. I often make this dish for the holidays.
Stuffing Bread Pudding
Stuffing bread pudding is the perfect side to your Thanksgiving dinner. Use slightly stale bread, lightly toasted, for best results.
Easy Cornish Hens
Cornish hens with herbs cooked in the slow cooker are very juicy and the meat falls off the bone.
