Italian Fig Cookies
This recipe for Italian fig cookies has been handed down through my mother's family for years. My grandmother brought it with her from Italy in the early 1900's. My mom taught me the recipe and now I am the designated person in our family to make these delicious fig cookies. This is a very high honor - so they must be as good as my Grandmothers' cookies! Some people call these homemade fig Newtons. They are a tradition at Christmas and are wonderful with a hot cup of coffee.
Mom's Nut Horns
This is an old family recipe. We make them every Christmas and there are never enough. The dough is easy to work with and they are easy to make!
Pie Crust Cinnamon Rolls
My Nana calls these pie crust cinnamon rolls 'crickets'.
Banket
Banket is a great-tasting Dutch pastry filled with almond paste. My husband's family is from the Netherlands and this is the recipe they make every year at Christmas.
Little Nut Cups
I learned this recipe from a childhood friend whose mother made these for family parties and get-togethers. They are a great Christmas or special occasion cookie. My Mother makes hers with walnuts, I prefer pecans for a mini pecan pie taste.
Great-Grandmother Bubbie's Hamantaschen
Hamantaschen are fruit-filled cookies traditionally served during the Jewish holiday Purim. They are put in gift baskets and given to all one's friends. We always make extra, so there are plenty for us, too! This recipe includes the original filling from my great-grandmother's Polish recipe, but for a shortcut, you can substitute any flavor of jam.
