Cranberry Sauce with Apples
This cranberry sauce with apples is made with fresh cranberries and Granny Smith apples, which add an extra layer of tart flavor to a classic cranberry sauce recipe. The pectin in the apples helps the sauce to set and and a bit of cinnamon adds fall flavor. Make this apple cranberry sauce several days in advance to relieve some of the holiday stress, then pull it out to serve with turkey and all of your holiday sides. Leftovers can be spread on toast or sandwiches, mixed into yogurt, used in baking, or dolloped over ice cream.
Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Applesauce for the Freezer
There is nothing better than homemade applesauce with hand-picked apples, and it is so easy to do! For chunky applesauce, use a potato masher to mash the cooked apples. If you prefer smooth applesauce, run the cooked apples through a food mill. The key is adding a few strips of lemon peel to the apples while cooking. The lemon heightens the apple flavor. Make sure you use a good cooking apple, like Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Jonathan, McIntosh, or Gravenstein. Ready to serve as soon as you're done, either hot or refrigerated. Delicious with vanilla ice cream or vanilla yogurt. This freezes easily and lasts up to a year in a cold freezer.

Mum's Irish Apple Pie
This Irish apple pie recipe is from my mum. She was from Cork in southern Ireland, so I'm guessing the recipe is Irish and possibly the same one her mother taught her. As a little boy, I grew up helping my mum make apple and fruit pies. Sadly, she is no longer with us, but her legendary apple pie lives on in my memory. I promise you will love this pie. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
