Rich Shortcrust Pastry
Everyone was asking me for this pastry recipe, so here it is! It's rich, tasty, and versatile. Freeze what you don't need to use. Enjoy!
Old Fashioned Flaky Pie Crust
This recipe has been handed down for over 80 years, I'm told. It makes the flakiest crust ever! Surprisingly, it is made with oil, not lard. This is a must-try.
Basic Flaky Pie Crust
It is just what it claims to be. Use as unbaked pie shell.
Pretzel Crust
Pretzel crust adds a salty and crunchy element to any pie. This makes a 9x13-inch pie crust, but the recipe may be modified for use with a 9-inch pie dish.
Sugar-Free Graham Cracker Crust
This sugar-free graham cracker crust is not as sweet as others. It's simple, delicious, and can be used for almost any kind of pie. Best with pumpkin or chocolate!
British Shortcrust Pie Pastry
Many British recipes call for shortcrust pastry for a tender and crumbly crust in sweet pies, tarts, or savory quiches. Because it is so easy to make in batches, I make extra to freeze for later use.
Best Ever Pie Crust
This simple pie crust recipe with shortening produces a very flaky crust that works beautifully with any filling! You can double or halve the recipe without any problems.
Classic Lard Two-Crust Pie Pastry
This pie crust with lard is the way a pie crust should be made.
Bisquick Pie Crust
Super easy Bisquick pie crust.
Food Processor Pie Crust
This food processor pie crust is easy and foolproof. The secret to a good crust is to have everything very cold and to handle it as little as possible. Use frozen or almost frozen shortening, lard, or butter as your fat and ice water, and then chill the dough well before rolling. Process the dough as little as possible and use only the amount of water needed to allow you to form it into a ball, not the machine.
Roasted Potato Salad
This roasted potato salad is a tasty alternative to the typical picnic potato salad. Simply roast red potatoes then toss with bacon, eggs, green onion, celery, and mayo. Pretty easy to make, and you can adjust most ingredients to suit your tastes.
Smoked Eggs
This smoked egg recipe is incredibly easy. I learned it from a neighbor and it is a fun way to use up the extra space in your smoker grill. The eggs turn a lovely brown color and have a consistency similar to boiled eggs. The insides have a tinted brown color, too. Reduce cook time if you prefer a softer boiled egg.
