Fabulous Olive Salsa by James
Our friends James and Jayden had us over for some backyard entertainment and served this delicious dish up. We managed to talk them into handing over the recipe. Mess with the mix and quantity of olives to suit your taste.
Olive Puffs
These puff pastry-wrapped olives are our family's favorite holiday appetizer. We make them with a variety of olives - pimento stuffed green, plump kalamata, Provencal - just make sure they are pitted. We like to use strongly flavored olives; the flavor of canned ripe olives disappears in the puff pastry. You can make these ahead, and freeze; allow 30 minutes for the pastry to thaw before baking. Another advantage: the kids like to make them and eat them.
Spiced Olives
Serve with charcuterie, garnish for a salad, drop a couple in a martini, or simply serve as an hors d'oeuvre. Put in a pretty jar tied with a strand of ribbon, and you'll have an awesome hostess gift.
Cocktail Wieners
These cocktail weenies are super easy to make in a slow cooker with only three ingredients for a crowd-pleasing treat! I was a little unsure at first about the grape jelly concoction, but now I won't do it any other way. It is so savory with just enough sweetness. I make this for potlucks, backyard BBQs, or any get-together, and it is always a hit.
Little Smokies
These tangy, smoky cocktail weiners are super easy to prepare using a slow cooker. They're a fun appetizer for entertaining a crowd! Serve with toothpicks.
Raw Marinated Mushrooms
There's no cooking involved with this recipe, the raw mushrooms marinate for three days.
Grilled Portobello Mushrooms with Mashed Cannellini Beans and Harissa Sauce
This appetizer is loaded with so many flavors and it's vegetarian and healthy. Give it a shot if you want to impress! It may sound like a ton of work, but it really is simple. If you like bold flavors, you will love it!
Giant Stuffed Mushrooms
These stuffed mushrooms are too big to serve as hors d'oeuvres.....just one of these enormous mushrooms can be dinner for a hungry person.
Vegan Portobello Jerky
Portobello jerky is a great alternative to beef jerky for that vegan in your life. I plan to experiment with different flavor combinations, but for now, I leave you with my spicy Asian blend.
Grilled Portobello Mushrooms
These grilled portobello mushrooms marinated in balsamic vinegar with garlic and onion are my favorite thing to cook when it's grilling season. Delicious hot off the grill for a flavorsome side dish or served in a bun!
Coq au Vin Broth Fondue
This fondue broth recipe is the closest I've come to replicating a popular chain restaurant's offering. Enjoy it at home for a romantic dinner for two, or prepare a larger quantity for a dinner party. Either way, it's always a big hit, and we rarely have leftovers. Use for dipping chicken, steak, veggies, etc.
Balsamic Mushrooms
Balsamic mushrooms are a great way to start your dinner party. These mushrooms can be served either hot or cold, so you can prepare them the night before your party or just moments before.
